Any possible Mormon we could elect will have deeper morals not tied to political goals or positioning than the person holding the office at present. Every Mormon in the field has stronger credentials than the man in office at present. Any Mormon available has authentic birth constitutional qualifications for the office of President. Any Mormon willing to accept the office of President has already achieved personal and life goals due to diligence and hard work without manipulation, positioning and affirmative action, in fact may have overcome some negative discriminatory actions. If Romney is the candidate we will at least have someone with more normative values than the current holder of the office. I've never met a Mormon who was not a person decent character and moral judgment. Mormons are decent people. They're hard working, upstanding citizens who believe in the power of education and going to church. They acquire a cosmopolitan outlook early in life by means of mandatory mission work in other communities or, often, other countries. Their children go into the highest professions possible. They are the bedrock of their communities and they pull their weight. You can't ask much more than that. Back east many liberal intellectuals who appear to be the antithesis of all that made this country great: they tend not to believe in traditional families or weekly church as the foundations of a civil society. They tend not to respect any religions in fact. If you say you're religious, they scoff at you. They value education in the sense " I got a MSW or a PhD so you should, too" but fundamentally, they are more interested in balancing skin colors and ethnicity's in the schools and workplace than in promoting color-blind excellence and meritocracy. For about 2 seconds on 9/11, they were patriotic, but most of the time they hate the U.S. and everything it stands for. I want a president and a congress that don't pander to these nihilistic liberal-intellectuals on the coasts but instead represent the heartland which is the true America. Mormonism is not an obstacle, not in this country.
