Where is the happiness?
Doesn’t seem like a description of a happy people. You would be surprised because research shows that conservative Republicans were 68 percent more likely than liberal Democrats to say they were “very happy” about their lives.
Most conservatives are married; most liberals are not. And married people are more likely to describe themselves as happy. Conservatives are religious. And religious people are nearly twice as likely to say they are very happy about their lives.
Research shows that fifty-two percent of married, religious, politically conservative people with kids are very happy. Only 14 percent of single, secular, liberal people without kids will say they are happy.
If we think that conservatives see the free enterprise system in a sunnier light than liberals do, we might think it’s a question of ignorance and ignorance is bliss.
But that wouldn’t be the right. Conservatives embrace things as they happen and rarely want to change them.
Researches also showed that people at the extremes are happier than political moderates. That is strange because you would think that extremists are mad about lots of things. But no, it turned out they feel like they know everything about the world and they feel great in their skin.
So, forget everything you knew. The best thing for you would be to be extreme conservative and tell everyone how happy you are.
